From cold-heading raw steel wire to heat-treated finished bolts, every step runs under strict in-house process control — ensuring the dimensional accuracy and strength grade printed on every head marking.
All-metal hex lock nuts (DIN 980V, also called stover or one-piece prevailing-torque nuts) have a slightly pinched top crown whose distorted threads grip the bolt and resist loosening under vibration — with no nylon insert, so they work at high temperature. Widely used in engines, exhaust systems, machinery and any hot or heavy-duty joint where a nylon-insert nut would fail. The metal locking action gives reliable, reusable prevailing torque.
Thread the nut on with the pinched (locking) crown facing away from the joint. It will feel stiff as the distorted top threads engage — that prevailing torque is normal and is what stops the nut backing off. Run it down to the mating surface and tighten to the specified torque. Because locking is all-metal, these nuts suit high temperatures and heavy vibration where nylon-insert nuts are not rated.
Manufactured from carbon steel to property class 6, 8 or 10 per ISO 898-2 and produced to DIN 980V / ISO 7042, with a distorted all-metal locking crown. Every batch is traceable to raw material certificates; each run passes 100% dimensional and prevailing-torque inspection to the standard; EN 10204 3.1 certificates available on request.
