Product Overview

Application Scenarios

Cross-recess countersunk (flat head) machine screws (DIN 965 / ISO 7046) have a 90° flat head driven by a Phillips cross recess, seating flush into a countersunk hole on a fully threaded machine-screw shank. They give a clean, snag-free flush finish and are widely used in electronics and electrical enclosures, appliances, sheet-metal and panel work, hinges, trim and general light assembly. Stainless versions suit visible, damp, outdoor and food-contact applications.

Installation Notes

Prepare a matching 90° countersunk hole so the flat head seats fully flush. Drive with the correctly sized Phillips bit — the recess number rises with screw size (PH1 for M3, PH2 for M4–M5, PH3 for M6, PH4 for M8–M10), and the wrong bit cams out and chews up the recess. These are machine screws: run them into a tapped hole, nut or captive thread rather than plain material. They are normally grade 4.8 or 8.8; a thread-locker resists loosening on vibration-prone joints, and a flush countersunk head seats on the workpiece without a washer.

Material & Certification

Manufactured from cold-heading quality carbon steel to grade 4.8 or 8.8 per ISO 898-1 and produced to DIN 965 / ISO 7046, with every batch traceable to raw material certificates. Each production run passes 100% dimensional and cross-recess gauge inspection before packaging; EN 10204 3.1 material certificates are available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do countersunk machine screws need a countersunk hole?
Yes. The head is a 90° cone, so the hole must be countersunk to the same 90° included angle and to a diameter that lets the head sit flush with — or just below — the surface. A plain drilled hole leaves the head proud, and the wrong countersink angle makes it seat on an edge. Match the countersink to the head diameter (dk) for each size, and drive with the correct Phillips bit — PH1 for M3, PH2 for M4–M5, PH3 for M6 and PH4 for M8–M10.
Which strength grade should I choose?
Cross-recess countersunk machine screws are normally supplied in grade 4.8 for general light-duty use, or 8.8 where a little more strength is needed — they are not high-strength structural screws. Stainless A2 (304) / A4 (316) trades some strength for corrosion resistance and is preferred for damp, outdoor or food-contact use — confirm the grade your drawing calls out before ordering.
Do you provide mill/material certificates?
Yes. EN 10204 3.1 material certificates are available on request, along with dimensional inspection reports, for projects requiring documented traceability.
Can you produce non-standard lengths or custom head types?
Yes. Send us your drawing or sample and we will confirm feasibility, material and dimensions before quoting — custom OEM/ODM production is available alongside our standard DIN 965 / ISO 7046 range.
